Kimberly had booked a birthday party for Lydia at Libby!lu for Oct. 4th. When we went over to her house to check on the family last Wednesday, Lydia bounded to the door with Hannah's party invitation.
Kimberly's sister called the store to tell them that Kimberly had died, but they still wanted for Lydia to have her party... what did they need to know, or do?
The girls were to have a small make-over party, but the ladies at Libby!lu decided that they wanted to surprise Lydia and her family with a very special party. They contacted Chick Filet in the foodcourt, who donated a HUGE tray overflowing with nuggets, the Cookie Co. donated a huge cookie cake and drinks for the girls and all the adults... they decorated tables in the foodcourt with tablecloths and balloons, then Libbi!lu, instead of making them choose their take-home party gift, let the girls have one of each of the choices. They also gave all of the goodies to Lydia plus t-shirts and cd's.
The girls then went to Lydia's grandparents' house for a sleep-over. They had a great time! I'm sure that it was bittersweet... but what an encouragement to the family and others to watch the community reach out to Lydia on her special day!

That's so great! :)
That is wonderful to hear about the community reaching out to their family during this hard time!
Wow. That is enough to warm your heart even on the worst of days! I am so happy they made Lydia's day a little happier. What a blessing!
