Rat Spoon

Our dilemma for the day (Praise the Lord that this is today's worry, SO silly compared to what is going through the minds and hearts of others):

A neighborhood cat dragged a tiny dead field mouse into our back yard. Jack went to the kitchen, got out one of my good Lennox spoons and scooped it up. Do we boil the spoon then put it through a couple of dishwasher cycles- or - do we toss it?

You could try just soaking in in bleach or lysol. I would probably do a google search to see how those two would affect silver, though. Is your spoon silver or stainless? If it's stainless, I would definitely try bleach or lysol plus the dishwasher. If it's silver, do your research first to make sure it won't ruin it.

Don't throw it away! I would wash it with warm soapy water (wearing gloves, and with something that could be thrown away, like paper towels), then put through the dishwasher. The germs should slide right off the shiny finish.

Now we will all think twice before using one of your spoons. :)

Ruth, I can not stop laughing about this. My thought is to clean it as best you can and save it for "special" guests only. I'll be sure to bring my own silverware if we are invited over to eat. Don't you just love the things kids find and what they do with their discoveries!
